HB4583 Minimum Wage-Day Camp Counselor- Amends the Minimum Wage Law defining "day camp" to mean a seasonal recreation program in operation for no more than 16 weeks intermittently throughout the calendar year, accommodating for profit or under philanthropic or charitable auspices, 5 or more children under 18 years of age, not including overnight programs. A "day camp" does not include a "day care agency", "child care facility" or "foster family home" as licensed by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services. A camp counselor employed at a day camp (rather than a day camp of an organized not-for-profit corporation) is not subject to the adult minimum wage if the camp counselor is paid a stipend on a onetime or periodic basis and, if the camp counselor is a minor, the minor's parent, guardian or other custodian has consented in writing to the terms of payment before the commencement of such employment. HB5368 Military Family Compact Act- Creates the Military Family Interstate Compact Implementation Statute Drafting Advisory Committee Act, establishing the Committee as an interagency advisory committee to develop a comprehensive statute to implement the Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children. The Lieutenant Governor is the chair of the Committee and the Office of the Lieutenant Governor is to provide staff and administrative support to the Committee.
The Department of Veterans Affairs Act also is amended to create the Task Force on Servicemember and Veterans Education. The Unemployment Insurance Act is amended to provide that a person is not ineligible for benefits if he or she left employment to accompany a spouse reassigned from one military assignment to another, but the employer's account shall not be charged. SB2399 Genetic Information Privacy Act- makes various changes to Illinois current law regarding genetic privacy, including limiting as to how employers may use genetic information in wellness programs. Effective Date January 1, 2009, 95-0927
SB2400 Public Health-Genetics-Biometrics- SB 2400, creates the Biometric Privacy Act and makes various changes to Illinois law regarding privacy and biometric testing. Effective October 3, 2008, 95-0994
SB2632 DCEO-Skill Shortage Study- provides that the Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity (DCEO) conduct a study to identify current and projected shortages in critical occupations and skill sets within Illinois businesses and industries and devise strategies to alleviate identified shortages. Effective Date September 23, 2008, 95-0966
SB2748 Fire Protection-Employment- prohibits an employer from penalizing an employee who is a fire protection district trustee who is absent from work due to attending a meeting of the fire protection district. Does not require the employer to compensate the employee for absence due to attendance at the meeting. Effective Date January 1, 2009, 95-0866
